Visitor Visa

A visitor visa lets you visit New Zealand for a holiday or to visit friends / family or to do business.

The type of visitor visa you may apply for depends on your purpose for visiting. For example, parent/ grandparent multiple entry visa, culturally arranged marriage visa, special purpose or event Visa

Visitor visas are granted for 3 months, but can be renewed, allowing for stays up to 9 months (12 months in special cases).

New Zealand Visitor visa allows you to study for up to three months. You cannot, however, work.

You could include your partner, and dependent children in your visa application, however, you’ll need to have enough money to support yourself and everyone included in your application.

All Other Countries (Non Visa Waiver Countries)

You need to apply for a visitor visa before you come to New Zealand. You can apply for a maximum period of 9 months (in some cases 12 months) and you must show that you are a genuine visitor with bona fide reasons for being in the country.

Visa Waiver Countries

These are countries that New Zealand has a visa waiver agreement with.

Depending on the country you are from, you may be able to visit New Zealand without a visitor visa.

Tourists from visa waiver countries and who are staying for a visit of 3 months or less do not need to apply for a visitor visa prior to arrival. Even if you are from a visa waiver country, it is important to note that you should still be a genuine visitor
